Nestled in the heart of Flagstaff, Himalayan Grill offers an authentic and deeply satisfying Indian and Himalayan dining experience that is sure to captivate both locals and visitors alike. This cozy yet unpretentious spot may not draw you in with flashy decor, but its true appeal lies in the rich tapestry of flavors it brings to the table, rooted in traditional Himalayan herbs, spices, and culinary techniques that make every bite memorable.
From the moment your meal begins, the aromatic spices fill the air, setting the stage for an indulgent journey through some of the most beloved dishes in the region. The Chicken Chau Chau, Tibetan-style pan-fried noodles tossed with tender chicken and fresh vegetables, is a standout, perfectly spiced and customizable to your preferred heat level. For a heartier option, the Non-Vegetarian Thali brings a beautiful medley of tastes and textures, featuring classics like Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo with Garlic Naan, and creamy Chicken Makhani, each dish bursting with authentic flavor and expertly balanced spice.
Vegetarian diners are equally celebrated here with delights such as Sag Paneer and Channa Masala, while accompaniments like the crispy, deep-fried Papadum and refreshing Kachumber Salad add contrasting textures and brightness to your meal. The Mango Lassi offers a cool, sweet counterpoint to the warmth of the spices, and traditional drinks like Masala Chai round out the meal with a comforting, aromatic finish.
Many guests rave about the Himalayan-style Naan, especially the cheesy variety, which seems to have a cult following for its addictive, melty goodness. The well-crafted soups such as the Dal Soup and the exquisitely spiced Mulligatawny Soup are perfect for Flagstaff’s cooler evenings, providing warmth and depth with every spoonful.
While the interior is pleasantly simple, the atmosphere buzzes with lively energy and a genuine warmth. Attentive and friendly staff make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, ensuring your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable even on busy nights. Some diners have noted a slight wait during peak times, but they agree that the eventual arrival of their food more than makes up for it — the vibrant flavors and generous portions leave a lasting impression.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply yearning for authentic Himalayan and Indian comfort food, Himalayan Grill delivers an experience that stirs the soul and satisfies the palate. It’s a delightful gem in Flagstaff that promises to make you crave your next visit before you even finish your first meal.
I enjoyed eating here more than I thought I would, I really enjoyed the nann with cheese inside it. Definitely going to have some back at home because those are just to die for! The rice was also pretty good, and I enjoyed the Mango Larissa I think it was called? It was something like that, it's on the beverage menu. I didn't eat much, but I got full pretty quickly. It's quite shocking to be honest. I'm a very picky eater, but if I ever come here again I might just have to try some other things on the menu. P.S. The staff here are super friendly!!
The best authentic Indian food in all of Arizona. Indian food is my passion and I have been fortunate to have some amazing Indian food in my travels. I never expected visiting Flagstaff to find some of the best Indian food in the western part of the United States. The restaurant is at the end of a strip mall and clean but nothing special aesthetically. The food incredible. I was there with a local who recommended it after learning I enjoyed Indian food. The blending of spices, some of the best garlic naan I've ever had and endless rice which you're not charged extra for and the prices are so reasonable. I purchased some food to go and invested in items to preserve it on my travels. Yes it was that good. I we'll be back in Arizona in a month or so and I hope there's a table for me because I will definitely be eating all my lunch and dinner meals at this restaurant. If you love Indian food like I do it's just a no-brainer just go and enjoy!
A cozy little Indian restaurant at the heart of Flagstaff. Although the place isn’t the best looking inside and out, looks can be deceiving. Our waiter was attentive to our table and was friendly. The food itself is very good. I might be biased towards Indian food, but this is very good. I like the creaminess of the Tikka Masala and the samosas. I also liked some of the lamb and everything these wonderful people cook. Overall, would recommend.
Nice place, food was good, lively, busy vibes. If I had any complaint it would be about the service, we visited on a monday evening, they were busy. We waited idk 20-30 mins for someone to ask us about drinks and take our order then prob another 30-45 mins to get our meal. I type this as I sit here still waiting for our check I asked for 15 minutes ago. Never refilled our drinks. Im not one to whine, they're busy, but yea...
Had our anniversary dinner here a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it so much. We ordered the veg/non-veg combo dinner for 2 and appreciated the variety. We got to try several dishes, plus bread, appetizer and desert and loved every bite of it. The service was outstanding, everyone was so friendly and even though it was busy on a Friday night, we never had to wait for anything we needed. We can't wait to go back.
Delicious food. Love that they use cilantro! We were asked what level of spice, from 1-5. We got 1 and enjoyed the flavors. Service has been great for us during lunch hours. Portion sizes have always left us with enough to enjoy at home the next day. We don't have Nepali or even Indian food where we live so it's a nice splurge when we have to go to Flagstaff. You can eat for less than 20.00-30.00 a person though. This last visit I also got chicken chau chau to go and it was enough for three meals. Photos are from the last two visits.
